Meet "ME" - a curious crayon box discovering that the world is more beautiful when we express our true colors. Some days, "ME" feels bold like red. On other days, soft and light, like ice cream. And sometimes...a whole rainbow all at once. In a world where everyone is trying to fit in, "ME" learns to stand out - one crayon at a time. Through simple English and Spanish phrases and vibrant illustrations, this uplifting story invites readers of all ages to explore the colors of their identities, feelings, talents, dreams, and most of all...their unique and special selves.

Hi, I'm Dr. Celia Renteria Szelwach, an ICF certified Executive and Professional Coach, Educator, and Lifelong Dreamer!
I'm a Mexican American veteran, coach, educator, speaker, mom, and lifelong dreamer who believes every crayon in the box enriches our life’s tapestry. Over the years, I’ve proudly worn many hats—West Point graduate, Army paratrooper, corporate leader and business owner, teacher, and champion of positive change—and today, writing invites me back into the boundless joy and wonder of pure imagination. My stories and poems weave together colorful visions, lived experiences, and courage to inspire readers of all ages to dream boldly, embrace their uniqueness, and discover everyday miracles. When I’m not writing, coaching, or teaching, you’ll find me practicing yoga, creating art, traveling, and camping, fishing, and hiking with my family.
The Origin Story of ME
I wrote the original version of Colors in My Crayon Box in 1998 and registered it with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2000. Inspired by my son’s creativity and imagination, I actually prototyped the book in 2003 and then let it sit until the time was right to share its powerful message of hope for all ages. The images below reflect the prototype for the book and the character ME.
